This past week marked a momentous occasion for this blog. It exceeded last year’s hits – 1650. However, since most of last year’s hits were all due to one post that was linked on Ace of Spades, it was basically just luck (and being friendly to the right people!) So, this year’s numbers (slightly over 10 hits a day most of the time) feel much more earned.
- Speaking of earning things, in reading from Never Felt Better, we learn of a few Irish peacekeepers who really earned their pay in Lebanon.
- Jacqui Murray wrote a book about the journey of her daughter from high schooler to Naval Academy midshipman and writes a blog called USNA or Bust. Recently she posted Wednesday’s Hero on Colonel Van T. Barfoot.
- I also stumbled across some wonderful photos taken in the food capital of Italy, Bologna. I urge you also to check on the Life in France series on his blog as well.
- Marine Corporal Dakota Meyer will be awarded the Medal of Honor.
- John Carter, who spoke in that Thanksgiving post of mine, will be awarded the French Croix de Guerre in a few weeks, at the Operation Dragoon Commemoration in August. So, I am hoping we’ll get an interview to post as well.
- BlackFive is a treasure trove of information and they’ve a great video of 1/501 jumping out of just four C-17’s. I guessing Bob Carrell (1/501 CO, KIA 6 June 44) would have loved to have jumped out of those.
